The following position is available with the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education.


PRODUCTION TEAM LEADER Printing, Distribution, and Client Services


Position reports to the printing plant manager and participates in the overall administration of the plant to accomplish the plant's short- and long-range objectives. The production team leader coordinates the activities of printing plant production and ensures high-quality products are produced in an efficient and timely manner. The production team leader must exercise continuous leadership to focus plant efforts on shifting priorities. This position assists shop employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment; estimates print charges; plans and assigns work; implements policies and procedures; and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment operating procedures and working conditions.


Position officed on-site at CareerTech in Stillwater, OK.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:

· High School Diploma or Equivalency.
· Working knowledge of all aspects of offset printing productions including prepress, press and bindery.
· Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures.

PREFERRED:

· Working knowledge of production costs.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Coordinate the production of print jobs through planning with departmental supervisors and outsourced vendors to ensure manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner by implementing proper use of equipment and staff.
· Consult and assist customers in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner, appropriately responding to their inquiries regarding project development, printing production process and delivery requirements, focusing on customer expectations.
· Recognize and communicate to the printing plant manager any priority projects or problems such as job cost issues and complaints from customers.
· Coordinate activities associated with procurement of materials, supplies and equipment using policies and procedures implemented by the agency.
· Estimate labor and printing costs and provide customers with printing estimates that are competitive yet reach the highest profit margin achievable.
· Coordinate maintenance of equipment and facilities by purchasing parts and/or requesting service technicians to minimize production downtime and provide a clean and safe working environment.
· Analyze estimating strategies for profitability and competitiveness to achieve the highest profit margin.
· Leads the production team by getting the orders done in a timely manner.
· Assist with quarterly inventory of printshop materials and supplies in coordination with the agency financial department.
· Identify, coordinate and/or conduct safety training programs for print plant staff to achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality and productivity and attend training seminars as required.
· Perform duties of printing plant manager in that person's absence and/or as needed.


SALARY/BENEFITS: $56,985.95- $63,421.34 commensurate with education or experience.

· The state provides a benefit allowance to help you pay for insurance premiums which include health, dental, life and disability insurance.
· The amount of your allowance, $9000-$20000, is determined based upon the dependents you choose to include in health coverage.

Total salary and benefits package valued at $71,991.72 - $78,911.50.


LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY: Provide direction, development, and leadership to employees. Assists plant manager in decisions regarding hiring/termination, promotion and pay. Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Exercises a high degree of judgment and uses various strategies regarding project development and the production process. Manages multiple priorities and interface emergency requirements into the production process. Assists plant manager in short- and long-range planning


COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, procedural manuals, and customer specifications. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of supervisors, customers, and the public; ability to communicate ideas and concepts in oral and written form to other employees, customers and vendors; and ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with employees, customers and vendors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply moderately complex mathematical equations as applicable (For example, calculating discounts, proportions, percentages and volume, and applying concepts of basic algebra and geometry).

REASONING SKILLS: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Must exercise a high degree of judgment and use various strategies regarding project development and the production process. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables; ability to apply problem resolution to facilitate fast improvements and improved working relationships; and ability to measure performance to goals and standards.

OTHER JOB-RELATED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Working knowledge of all aspects of offset printing production, including prepress, press and bindery; background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures; and working knowledge of production costs.


LICENSES CERTIFICATES REGISTRATIONS: Requires valid driver's license.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift 10-100 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
